Monday Morning Musings

What is your dream day?

I don’t mean, “Gee, I wish I could sleep in...” I mean the pinch-me-I’m-dreaming sort of dream day. What would make you come alive, vibrant, and excited? My parents have begun gifting their children with our dreams days. (Fabulous, eh?) The best part has been in the deciding what that is, what would be the most amazing experience for me? My husband drove 5 exotic sports cars on a day with Road and Track. (The photo is below! He calls it his "Ferrari Smile!) My sister is off to Costa Rica with me on my yoga retreat in January. Me, well my dream day is...read my comment below.

So, what is your dream day? Let us know and then schedule it. It truly doesn't matter if is it in the year 2012, just put it on your mental calendar. My dream day is scheduled in my head for 2010 and I am already excited!

My dream day is to spend a weekend at a spa all by myself, completely alone, for two full days. I have the days planned. Very early rising, meditation and breathing practice. Then breakfast and a morning of physical exercise. (I love to hike!) Lunch and then an afternoon of pampering...manicure, pedicure, facial, massages, steam room, hot tub, ahhhh... (One of my values is to feel good physically. It is why I love yoga so much!) Then a two-hour asana practice and dinner. Off to my room for quiet time, reading, journaling. Then just before bed, restorative yoga and meditation. Off to bed early so I am ready to do it again the next day. I know, you want to come with me. Didn't I mention? I am off all by myself...

When I think of a dream day, it is usually something wonderful that I have already experienced and want to do it again. However, I decided to stretch my imagination a bit---my dream day is in Tuscany, Italy (never been there) and I am staying at a villa with my husband. I get up early and do my yoga practice on our large, secluded balcony with great views then join my husband for breakfast. We then take a bike ride together through the countryside and return late afternoon, I read and take a nap and then we have a wonderful dinner. The weather is perfect, of course. Ahhhh, I think I will start studying Italian to get ready for the trip.

I could come up with pages of dream days. Some I would be traveling and enjoying riding a motorcycle through Europe or New Zealand. Other days would be similar to Laura's spa day (just makes me sigh and relax my shoulders thinking about it). I think I will share an "everyday" dream day though.

I get up in the morning when I feel like I have had enough sleep. Relax in bed for a little bit before getting up to take a nice warm shower. Work in my home office for a while in the morning. Meet the rest of the muses for lunch followed by a massage. Go to the office (very spacious and comfortable) to finish up my work. Yoga practice after my full day. Ride my motorcycle home to have a lovely super with my sweetie. Snuggle on the couch and knit with him.

I feel like many days in my life now are dream days. I spent about 15 years in jobs that did not suit me or make me happy. I quit to teach yoga and reclaim my sanity. I now have my sanity and I teach yoga - dreams do come true! Everyday I wake up excited for what is to come with tremendous gratitude that I chose to leave that old life behind and create a new one. Everything else is icing in the cake.

My dream day is to wake up before everyone else in my family (without an alarm clock, feeling fully rested), meditate, then write for awhile. After my family gets up we share a large, healthy breakfast of our favorite foods. Either the kids go off to school or they come with me out to the gardens of our small farm and work/play with me. Before lunch I'd like a massage then someone to bring me lunch, perhaps in the 3 seasons porch overlooking the farm. Then it's off to my belly dance lesson followed by yoga class. My family gathers to share dinner, made by someone other than me. Then we all relax outside or go for a bike ride or watch a movie together. Before bed I enjoy a hot bath while I read. Then sleep in fresh clean sheets with big fluffy down blankets.

My dream day is to awaken early in the morning, feeling fully charged. Sipping coffee on my balcany overlooking the ocean wearing my big fluffy white robe and slippers. Followed by a long walk on the beach after which I sit down at my computer to work on my writing. I would go to lunch with a friend and then go to the gym for yoga and a workout. My evening would be spent enjoying the beautiful sunset with a glass of wine and then reading a good book in front of the fireplace.

My dream day is wake up listening to the ocean, sip coffee on the deck, do my Yoga on the beach, walk with my toes in the water, make love long and slow, take a nap, eat sea food, watch the sunset and sleep through the night without waking.
