Inspirations

Greetings, Sensual Muses,

Admit it. The greeting caught your attention, didn’t it! :-) I am referring to sensuous in the literal sense — your senses. What tantalizes all of your senses? Fill in a few items for each one: sight, sound, taste, smell, touch. What will you do today to delight one or all of your senses?

TASTE: chocolate, basil, really good olive oil, wine, cilantro, maple syrup

SIGHT: almost any nature especially the color of bright green leaves against a vibrant blue sky and vibrant blooms and fresh snowfalls; sleeping children - so peaceful!

SOUND: Any water sounds such as rain, waterfalls, babbling brooks, water fountains; Mozart and Beethoven; piano music; giggling children.

SMELL: My perfume; my husband's cologne (which he wore when we were dating! Takes me right back!); fires; grilling vegetables; fresh chocolate chip cookies (especially when my husband makes them!)

TOUCH: Flannel and polartec fleece (head to toe fleece in the winter time!); my yoga sticky mat; my children's cheeks (perfect for kissing!)

TODAY: Sound: listening to my water fountain and a rain storm; Taste and smell: I think a batch of chocolate chip cookies are in my future! Touch: My yoga sticky mat.
Sight: Something to work on!

Taste: cheese, butter, capers, tomatoes, basil, strawberries

Sight: A clear sky at night, flowers, my garden, the look of my children's faces when they are sleeping, lakes and the ocean, the back of my little boys necks when they have been out in the sun and their hair is freshly cut.

Sound: silence (does that count?), laughter, the sound of a lake or the ocean, a gentle breeze through the trees

Smell: flowers, mint, citrus fruits (I was just going to say lemon, but it's really all of them)
I like the smell of my kids, especially when I kiss the tops of their little heads.

Touch: Chenille (especially socks), baby skin (especially the crease in the middle of their upper leg), getting a massage.

Today: Ramp cheese from the CSA on crusty bread, the sound of rain, the smell of the mint (and grapefruit, and lime/basil) Zum bar soaps we bought at the co-op,
the view of the lakes as I drive, and the feel of kisses for one sleepy toddler.

I also just wrote about the sights and smells on a recent trip to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum at www.breezeatdawn.blogspot.com

Sight: the colors of nature, wide open spaces, the ocean, trees, a ballerina at the ballet bar

Sound: Silence, rain, an orchestra

Smell: vanilla, coconut, garlic, my husband's deodorant (yes, really)

Touch: skin, books, rose petals, the fur of my puppies

Taste: maple syrup, basil, coconut, cilantro

Today:I am sitting in my home in silence, it is raining outside, I am able to see trees and there are books all around for me to touch at any moment. I also have two furry puppies right here to pet and love. Coconut macaroons are on the treat menu for later this afternoon and every time my husband walks by I can smell the Speed Stick!

Taste: Chocolate, tomatoes, watermelon, mom's biscuits with raspberry jam

Sound: A mountain stream, singing birds, the calm sounds of an early summer morning

Smell: Lavender, vanilla, popcorn

Touch: My yoga mat, a hot bath, hugs from my husband

Sight: The faces of my niece and nephew, mountains against a blue sky, sunsets, flowers

Today: I will enjoy the tastes and smells at the Spoon River Restaurant before going to the Guthrie to see and hear a good play and then I will come home and feel the cool crisp sheets as I drift off to a sound sleep.
