Monday Morning Musings

Muse upon this:

"When would now be the right time?"
James Arthur Ray

We all tend to put things off, "I'll start writing my novel when I have time." I'll start to exercise when I buy some equipment." "I'll work on my relationship tomorrow." What do you really want to do in your life? When will you finally do it? So, when would now be a good time?

I love this quote. It is on the cover of James Arthur Ray's book Harmonic Wealth. It inspired me to make numerous changes in my life. Many of them small and what may seem to others, insignificant. But they were significant to me because they represented all the things I had been "putting off" until life was what I dreamed it would be. I was amazed at the power of moving forward when I started doing the things I had been putting off! The shift was dramatic. You don't need to know the entire path to create what you want, you just need to know the next step. What will you do today?

That quote is so inspiring! For a long time I only thought about the thing I wanted yet rarely took even a little step to help me get there. Now I have a list of all that I want. Every day I do at least ONE thing to move me in that direction. Most of the time, I do MANY things to move me in that direction. No step is too small and just doing one thing inspires me to do another, and another!

I agree with Karen and Laura on just taking baby steps to achieve your goals. It used to be so intimidating to reach for some of my dreams but by just taking a small step each day, it makes it more manageable to accomplish a large goal. I can have a day filled with knowing that I am succeeding at my achievements.

I love your Morning Muses idea. Mondays can be a little tough when you transition from space with family to something else. This is a good way to refocus. (not tough for me today, my son is home from school today and we are having so much fun!)

As for the quote, it does inspire me to see that others have made changes. Sometimes the larger question for me is what are those dreams? Are you keeping track? Do you have a list?

I liked the look of the e-newsletter too.

SAS, great questions! Do I keep track of my dreams that I have achieved? No, actually, I don't. I achieve them and then I am on to the next one. The adventure is about the road to the dream, not the dream itself. The road to the dream takes growth and movement. It is the growth that attracts and excites us. The reaching of the goal is fun and exhilarating -- for a bit. Then we are ready to challenge ourselves again, to do more, to grow more. Often we see this as being "discontent". It is merely being human -- we are ready to grow and do more because that is what we are here to do!

SAS, I think you might also be asking about what are your dreams? How do you figure out what you want? If so, focus on what gets you excited. What you cannot wait to do and you lose time when you are doing it. Not sure? Just start to do things that help you feel good, in general, you will eventually "hit" on what gets you really excited!

LAURA - Thanks for your thoughts! You were right, I was talking about my dreams. In fact your Morning Musings got me thinking about my dreams. I made a list a little while ago. My dreams are small, big and current .. meaning, many of them I am living. I felt that making the list was a good exercise and even some of them, I realized I'd already done! I like what you said about the journey and what is exciting. I totally agree! Muse Karen has helped me a lot over the last months! I am looking forward to the next Monday Musings already. Also, it is so interesting how inspiration works. When you feel or see someone else who is inspired, that in itself inspiring!

In some ways I feel like I'm good at this - just doing things that I want to do and make me feel good. I've never been one to hesitate, except for certain little nagging areas. Part of my NOW is blowing past those old beliefs that limited me (and I didn't even realize it!!) Each one that I get through gets me closer to ALL my dreams.
Today I am:
writing
teaching
learning
clearing

I am writing a book. There, I've said it! I've hesitated saying it because I haven't written that much yet and felt I couldn't declare it unless I was further in the process. I've been held up by my belief that there isn't enough time. I'll write when I have more time, I'll write when I have free time, and so on.
NOW is the time. Here I go!

Laura~ I am too thinking about my dreams. Not always sure what they are, so I am going to search myself for clarity...
